Mucha Spring is a Belgian made jacquard woven wall tapestry. In this work by Czechoslovakian artist Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). Springtime is personified in a piece from his The Seasons series, 1900. An ethereal woman poses among the flowers an enigmatic smile on her lips. She is clad in a flowing delicate green gown before a background of sunlight to create a dreamlike background to the scene. Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing, vaguely Neoclassical-looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed halos behind their heads often using pale pastel colors. The Mucha Style became known as Art Nouveau French for new art and was often imitated.
